Road work on South Chicago Ave in Portales begins

Portales NM – In a Facebook post on the Portales, New Mexico City Government page, City Manager Scott Mitten announced that the reconstruction of South Chicago Ave (between East 3rd and East 2nd) is officially underway.

Mitten acknowledged the city finance team and public works crew for “securing the funding [to make] it happen” in the Facebook post.

Construction involves removing the old road mix and resetting the base to “ensure a long-lasting, secure repair for years to come” and the estimated date of completion is December 24th.
