PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT – CITY OF PORTALES
Media Release, City of Portales
The City of Portales is asking residents to be aware of their surroundings and let us know if they notice any water that may indicate a possible leak. Overnight, the city observed a 2-foot drop in water levels in the storage tanks, which equals about 200,000 gallons per tank. While there can be a variety of causes, we want to ensure there are no unnoticed leaks in the community.
How you can help:
• Please keep an eye out for any unusual standing water or areas that appear to be leaking.
• If you see anything that seems out of place, please report it so we can investigate it.
• Please do not leave faucets dripping overnight, as this can contribute to additional water loss.
• If you have been contacted by the city regarding a leak at your residence, please make sure the leak is repaired as soon as possible to help prevent further water loss.
To report a possible leak:
• Public Works: 575-356-6662 (Option 2)
• After Hours: 575-356-4404 (Option 2)
