Police searching for suspect after Clovis shooting

Press Release, Clovis Police Department:

On Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at approximately 1:06 AM, officers of the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to the area of the 800 block of Sheldon in reference to a gunshot victim.  Upon their arrival, officers found Loydale Kirven (age 52) suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.  Officers administered emergency first aid to Loydale; including a tourniquet to his leg.  Loydale was transported to the hospital for advanced medical care.

Detectives were activated and took over the investigation.  During the course of this investigation, it was determined Loydale was involved in a verbal altercation with another male identified as J.D. Pringle (age 36).  The altercation turned violent when Pringle struck Kirven with a pistol before ultimately shooting him in the leg.  Pringle then fled the scene.

Detectives are searching for J.D. Pringle in connection to this shooting.  If you know the whereabouts of J.D. Pringle, you are asked to contact the Clovis Police Department by calling 911 immediately.
