INDOOR MASK MANDATE LIFTED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has announced, that effective immediately, the state mask mandate will no longer be in place for indoor public settings. This is reported to include the mandate for schools and daycares, leaving the decision up to individual districts and child care facilities. State health officials previously announced that the indoor mask mandate would be in place until at least March 4th, 2022.

New Mexico’s mask mandate was first put in place in May 2020. The mandate was lifted in July 2021 for vaccinated individuals. After the surge of the Delta variant, the governor announced Aug. 17th  the mandate would be reimplemented, effective Aug. 20th . New Mexico was one of the final states in the nation to have a mask mandate. The governor made this announcement during a Thursday afternoon news conference to discuss the end of the state’s legislative session.
