Do Drop In offers free meals to kids until SNAP is restored

With the current government shutdown and SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) delays, Portales’ locally owned coffee shop and eatery has announced that they will provide free meals for kids until SNAP benefits are restored, according to a post from the business Facebook page.
Do Drop In is located at 123 S Main Street in Portales.
In their social media post, the business made the following statement:
“Any child visiting us will receive a free Kid’s Meal until SNAP Benefits are restored to New Mexicans. Please limit to 1 Kid’s Meal per child; the child must be present for dine-in meals. No purchase necessary, no questions asked. To our community: We urge you to stand beside us and help out when and where you can. Let’s look out for our children, who are both our most valuable and most vulnerable. They are our future”
They also commented on the government shutdown effect on military families, extending the free meals to “military families that are being impacted by the government shutdown and are not receiving a paycheck right now” adding “Once brothers and sisters in arms…Always brothers and sister in arms.”
