Clovis Police find and arrest suspect of Tuesday’s shooting

*UPDATE* Shooting, 800 Sheldon Block, Clovis.

On Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at approximately 1:06 AM, officers of the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to the area of the 800 block of Sheldon in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon their arrival, officers found Loydale Kirven (age 52) suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers administered emergency first aid to Loydale; including a tourniquet to his leg. Loydale was transported to the hospital for advanced medical care.
Detectives were activated and took over the investigation. During the course of this investigation, it was determined Loydale was involved in a verbal altercation with another male identified as J.D. Pringle (age 36). The altercation turned violent when Pringle struck Kirven with a pistol before ultimately shooting him in the leg. Pringle then fled the scene.
On Thursday, August 24, 2023, an arrest warrant for Aggravated Battery (Great Bodily Harm) and Felon in Possession of a Firearm was issued for JD Pringle. That same day, Pringle was located and arrested on the warrant. Pringle is currently being housed at the Curry County Adult Detention Center. A subsequent search warrant was obtained and the firearm used in this crime was located and seized.
