CLOVIS MAN SENTENCED TO OVER THREE YEARS

CLOVIS (KSMX) – A Clovis man is now headed for prison for three and a half years. Thursday, Ninth Judicial District Attorney Andrea Reeb made the announcement that 43-year-old Gerardo Vasquez was sentenced for driving while intoxicated, 6th offense, and driving with a revoked license. The third-degree felony and misdemeanor hold maximum sentences of three- and one-half years, allowed by law, which is what Judge Matthew Chandler handed down to Vasquez. He was found guilty last November by a Curry County jury. During the sentencing the State provided evidence of the defendant’s prior convictions beginning in 1998. Judge Chandler noted that Vasquez has proclaimed he had no intentions to stop drinking.
