20 lbs of meth found in car’s gas tank during traffic stop in Clovis

California man caught with 20 lbs of meth in his vehicle by Clovis Police.
Clovis law enforcement stopped a four door Honda Accord on North Prince Street on Sunday morning only to discover 20 pounds of methamphetamines in the vehicle’s gas tank. (Amarillo Globe news, 7.25.23)
Authorities say the vehicle was driven by a David Licea, 35, of Bakersfield, California
Consent was given to police to search the vehicle while denying possession of illegal substances, but when Police K9 units were called to the scene, they discovered the presence of narcotics hidden in the gas tank.
Licea was arrested and booked into the Curry County Adult Detention Center and no bond has been set at this time. The case remains under investigation by the Clovis Police Department and Curry County Sheriff’s Office.
